After a bout of shingles and neuropathy Virginia began experiencing pain and numbness in her legs. Her right leg and foot was also cold all the time. Working with her primary care physician, they were able to diagnose Virginia with Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD).
Virginia was referred to Jed Peterson, MD, and Raman Kansal, MD, diagnostic radiologists at Adventist Health Portland. After reviewing her case, they decided performing a stent procedure would be the best approach for Virginia.
“Dr. Kansal gave very clear explanations about what he would do and what would happen,” says Virginia. “He told me a stent was less invasive and would reduce my chances for complications and shorten my recovery time.”
With help from Adventist Health’s Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine team, as well as Home Care Services, Virginia made a complete recovery and is thrilled to have her health and quality of life back.
“I can’t say enough good things,” Virginia comments. “The staff and doctors were always kind and helpful. I never felt like I was too much trouble. The nurses were all wonderful and there whenever I needed them.”
